In Bigg Boss, Mahek Chahal said that she had got a trip to Mumbai as a trip for winning a modeling competition in Norway. She gave her auditions and was screentested for Ajnabee, but had to dropped because of language problems. She then studied acting in Kishor Namit acting school and bagged a Telugu film called Neetho, where her dialogues were dubbed.
Mahek Chahal finally made her debut in the Bollywood film Nayee Padosan. She then three item numbers in Chameli, Mr and Mrs. Khanna. But fame finally fell on her lap when Mahek Chahal did item numbers in Wanted and Yamla Pagla Deewana.
She has also done TV commercials for Bar-One chocolate, Mentor Shirts, Godrej Refrigerator, Fevicol and Bombay Dyeing. She has also been featured in punjabi pop singer Jazzy B’s music videos like ‘Assi Ki Kariye’ and ‘Sun Ni Kuri’
